Leaving the Single-life with a Bang!

Saturday night Larry had to go out to Perdido Beach Resort as he had two wireless microphone rentals for an elaborate wedding.
The ceremony was held on the beach deck around sunset. I personally think that the theme and decorations were a little boring - but perhaps that is because I was spoiled with the riches of Cape Town, South Africa for my exotic wedding.

The Bride looked to me like a cream puff pastry. Her dress was narrow-fitting until it got to both the bottom and the top where it would suddenly puff out with some frill. In addition she must have had about eight bridesmaids all dressed in horrible satin dresses. The colour was a beautiful turquoise, but the style was so dull. she also had two additional attendants. Don't ask me why!

The groom and groomsmen were all dressed very appropriately for a beach wedding. Although, I don't even remember the groom looking that much different from the groomsmen. Talk about a little confusion. They all wore identical khaki chinos with button-up white shirts. That's it.

I was "fortunate" enough to see the reception set-up but remained unimpressed and left thinking how cheesy it all looked. Everything was white. Whitebacked chairs, white tables, white hydrangeas, white gazebo with white table with white guest book and white roses.

It is as if they were trying too hard to uphold their appearance of purity or something.

I know I am sounding terrible, but those were and still are my thoughts. In their defence, I must say that there was a wedding planner involved and the whole white on white deal is what makes her expensive services famous. That, and white is supposed to be the "in-thing" now.

They had a band called the Tip-Tops. The Father-of-the-Bride decided to have a final Champagne toast for the evening back on the beach deck where the couple was married around 21h00 for a firewors show.

Since Larry practically lives at the Resort, he knows so many people in high places. Thus, we got to stand on the beach deck along with the Banquets Manager and the General Manager during the show.

It felt as if the little ashes were going to fall on us, we were so close. People were even watching from the few condos close-by and you could see the flashes of their cameras going off. Unfortunately, none of those pictures will come out. The eye is still the best camera.

The finale was fantastically scary. It was a powerful noise and explosion. I even backed up a little - still afraid, but curious enough to hang around. I think my mouth was even hanging open.
Larry estimates the show to have set the man back $5000-$8000. She had better be worth it.

Everyone, that I have ever asked in my life, gets excited about a fireworks show. Personally, I can hardly wait until July 4th when I will get to see two even bigger shows. I don't think I was the only one in awe that night. There is just nothing like the explosion of colour on the night sky.
