Larry had to work really, really early this morning, so I have fleeting memories of being wished Happy Anniversary and a kiss goodbye.
At work I was blessed with a free lunch by a girl who recently got married herself and has not moved to her husband yet. I digress, but free lunches are worth a mention!
I was supposed to be spoiled with dinner being cooked for me by Larry who was home early, but I received a call from him saying that he was working later than expected. His suggestion was to have dinner at Macaroni Grill, which would bring us closer to his surprise for me.
'Surprise', you say? I am all ears!
I, of course, agreed. Who wouldn't? He said the magic word! After all, Macarani Grill is reasonable and very delicious - especially the freshly baked rosemary bread they serve when you arrive with olive oil and ground black pepper for dipping that is too hot to touch. And then there are those Italian Sodas - my favourite being the Pomegranate. Larry is quite fond of the wine plan they have. They bring a bottle of house wine to your table and tumblers (rustic, I guess) and draw a bunch of grapes on the table paper/ cloth. You colour in the grapes according to the glasses you drink. Cheapish wine on a honour system!
Larry said grace before we ate and said "God, just want to say that the chord of three strands is doing well", referring to Eccl. 4: 9-12 which was read at our wedding. I didn't think he remembered! Now, that is romantic, if you ask me.
Then there is the card... I should preface this with a little known fact about Larry: he doesn't do cards. He feels that if you write the recipient's name on the envelope, it is not necessary to write it inside the card, he also doesn't like writing the date inside since the recipient already knows their own birth dates. Needless to say, I am on the card committee. Oh, and Larry has never bought me a card -it's just not his thing!!
This card had my name on it inside and on the envelope; it had a date and it was extremely sweet. He called me his blessing, miracle and love of his life. How much more can a girl need?
Well, I mentioned a surprise, didn't I?
He took me to my favourite clothing store, New York & Co. so that I could buy work clothes and some not so work clothes. I didn't have my 20% off coupon with me last night, so they held the items for me until today. Let me tell you, whereas last night the pants were full price, the cardigans were buy one get one half off with a camisole and so on, I returned today to find that everything was half price! Man, it was so awesome I went back and got a few more things.
I can end this only one way: Larry, you are the bestest!!
